Ghost of Tsushima has taken the world by storm since its release with over 2.4 million copies sold in the first three days. While the game is semi-open world, it follows quite a strict linear story centered around Jin Sakai, the Ghost. However, this is set to all change with Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a free online co-op mode that’ll be made available in Fall 2020.
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends won’t feature Jin at all and instead, “focuses on four warriors who have been built up as legends in stories told by the people of Tsushima”. The mode itself will allow you to control one of these warriors which fall into different classes – Assassin, Hunter, Ronin, or Samurai. Each class will have unique play styles and abilities that will keep replayability fresh and interesting. Upon choosing a class, you’ll be dropped into co-op Story missions, increasing in difficulty as you progress, combining the mechanics of the original campaign with some intriguing new takes.
If you get a four-man squad together, you can drop into a classic wave-based Survival mode, battling it out against Tsushima’s greatest to see if you can come out on top. There’s also mention of a Raid mode to come to the game after Ghost of Tsushima: Legends’ release which sends “you and your partners to an entirely new realm to challenge a brutal, terrifying enemy”. So get practising with your squad because that’s gonna be one hell of a fight.
There’s no definitive release date for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends but with a time frame of Fall, we could see it before the floodgates open for the new console generation.
