How to get Mew with Poke Ball Plus in Pokemon Sword and Shield
If you’re lucky enough to own the Poke Ball Plus that was around when Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu were released then happy days, you’ve got nice and easy access to a free Mew in Pokemon Sword and Shield. The only caveat is that you mustn’t have redeemed Mew in your Pokemon Let’s Go variant so if you’re one of those people, here’s how to complete your Mew acquisition:
- Open the Mystery Gift option
Be in the main menu of your version of Pokemon Sword or Shield and select the Mystery Gift option.
- Prepare to link with your Poke Ball PLus
Click “Take a stroll with Poke Ball Plus”.
- Connect with your Poke Ball Plus
Pick up your Poke Ball Plus accessory and either press the top button or control stick. Your Poke Ball Plus will now connect.
- Acquire your Mew
You will hear a Mew sound and your game will display a message that gives you the option to get Mew. Choose Yes.
- Get Mew into your party
Head over to your storage box and there should be a level one Mew for you to use.

Now Pokemon Home has launched, you have quick and easy access to Pokemon you’ve already caught and transfer them over to Pokemon Sword and Shield. This can be done with the likes of Mew:
- Find Pokemon Home in the eShop
Head over to the eShop on your Nintendo Switch and search for Pokemon Home. - Install Pokemon Home
Download and install Pokemon Home onto your Nintendo Switch and link your Nintendo account. - Open Pokemon
Select the Pokemon option. - Choose the game where you already have Mew
Find the game where you have previously acquired Mew. - Transfer Mew
Locate Mew in the Box on the left and transfer over to the right Box.
