In past Pokemon titles, the method of evolving your Pokemon either revolved around levelling them up or via holding a stone. In Pokemon Sword and Shield, however, there has been a bunch of changes to evolving to make it more fresh and interesting. One of said cases is Galarian Farfetch’d which requires a very specific method of evolving. Again, in previous Pokemon games it was a little different with Farfetch’d not even having an evolution but in Pokemon Sword and Shield, Galarian Farfetch’d will evolve into the more formidable Sirfetch’d.
How to evolve Farfetch’d in Pokemon Sword and Shield
So, how do you actually evolve Farfetch’d into Sirfetch’d? Well, you need to successfully land three critical hits on your opponent in a single battle. This might sound a little tricky as battles don’t usually last long enough for you to land three critical hits but there are some ways you can increase your chances. We’ve listed some of these tips below.
Tips for evolving Farfetch’d in Pokemon Sword and Shield
- Make sure it’s holding the Leek item
If you’re lucky enough to have caught a Farfetch’d in the wild that’s holding the Leek item, you’ve just upped your chances in landing those all-important critical hits. The reason why is because the Leek will greatly increase the probability of getting a critical hit. Handy!
- Find some double battles
With double battles, you’re getting a much more increased chance of the battle lasting longer as well as having multiple Pokemon to defeat. This, therefore, means that you’ll have more chances at landing those criticals.
- Use the move Focus Energy
Focus Energy is a move that increases the chances of hitting a critical so it makes perfect sense to be using it when trying to evolve Farfetch'd in Pokemon Sword and Shield. If you’re wondering where you can acquire Focus Energy, you can actually get it for free from the record store in Motostoke and simply teach it to your Farfetch’d.
- Use the move Leaf Blade
Leaf Blade is another of those moves that can increase the chance of you getting a critical hit so using it in this situation is obviously advantageous. If you level your Farfetch’d all the way up to 55, it’ll learn Leaf Blade automatically but if not, you’re again able to pick it up. You’re able to get this from a Watt Trader in the Wild Area as well as a possible drop from a Max Raid Battle.
And that’s it, that is how to evolve Farfetch’d in Pokemon Sword and Shield. It seems like a pretty hard task at first but if you implement some of the tips we’ve listed, you should have your Sirfetch’d in no time!
