As this year’s iteration of Call of Duty, MW2, is built to hopefully last two years rather than the usual one, Infinity Ward has baked in new game modes to keep players entertained. These include Spec Ops, DMZ, the revamped Warzone experience, and more.
One of these areas that hopes to keep players engaged is the introduction of Raids. These Raids will offer up something a little different, potentially testing your brainpower along the way. Here is what you can expect and how to unlock Raids in MW2.
What are MW2 Raids?
We’ve just touched on the fact that MW2 Raids will be a different experience to that of what the traditional Call of Duty player is used to. First off, these are almost extensions of the Spec Ops mode that you may be familiar with, but will utilize aspects such as puzzles to make things a little harder for your squad.
Moreover, even though the first of these Raids, Atomgrad, hasn’t surfaced yet, we expect to see either one main ‘boss’ at the end or multiple bosses throughout, akin to that of other Raid experiences like in fellow FPS game Destiny 2. What we do know, however, is that this will be a PVE co-op experience, so no fighting other player-controlled squads here.
How to unlock MW2 Raids
Now you know what Raids are in MW2, you’ll probably want the exact details for how to unlock them.
Unfortunately, you can’t simply select Raids from the Main Menu from the get-go, you’re going to have to actually play some of the various game modes included with MW2. Once you do so, you’ll unlock a brand new item – a Raid Assignment. This Raid Assignment is used to gain access to Raids and is valid for one week before disappearing forever and you’ll have to do the process all over again. The saving grace of this, however, is that only one of your squad needs to get a Raid Assignment and you can join on them to use its benefits.
